Sheryl Crow Sings Jackson 5

Posted by Justin on July 29th, 2010 | No Comments

Off her new record, 100 Miles From Memphis, Sheryl Crow threw several covers into the mix, including this Jackson 5 classic. At first I couldn’t believe that she would even attempt to touch this – that anyone would is a bit audacious, but Sheryl Crow? I figured it was not going to go well.

Then I listened to it and my first reaction was, “Jesus, this shit is creepy good.” I mean, there are times during this song in which she sounds like a young MJ and I can’t decide if she included it because it went with her 70s funk/soul theme for the record or if it was her own private tribute (yet not private at all) to the singer she once performed backup vocals for?

You be the judge. Ps: they play this in Starbucks so if it sounds familiar, that’s why. Watch the Jackson 5 perform the song after the jump.

Goldfrapp Preps Release of ‘Believer’

Posted by Justin on July 28th, 2010 | No Comments

Goldfrapp – Believer (Davide Rossi Reinterpretation) from Myler Moss on Vimeo.

Above is the Davide Rossi Reinterpretation of Goldfrapp’s third single from the Head First album, Believer. I enjoy the song, but I feel it sounds a little too much in the same vein as Alive and I wish they would have opted for something that had a more unique tone or sound to it that the general public haven’t heard yet. And as I wrote that, I laughed because I think, “Do Goldfrapp get played on the radio anywhere?”

Remixes will be coming soon (and a video too I hope) by Little Cloud, Vince Clarke, Subway and Joris Voorn.

I feel it’s also worth mentioning that Alison recently lost her mother but has truly been a champ and continued to tour despite her loss.

Kylie & Scissor Sisters Do ‘All The Lovers’

Posted by Justin on July 27th, 2010 | No Comments

Kylie surprised her native country this evening at a performance by the Scissor Sisters when she joined them on stage for a repeat performance of the Sisters’ track Any Which Way that they did in Glastonbury. But the real gem, as seen above, was that she came back out later and performed All The Lovers! What a fucking treat especially because it’s done in the Sisters style too! Love love love. Shan and I are greatly looking forward to seeing the Sisters in Chicago later this year!

Love the picture, but still not feeling the “font” choice for this campaign. I do love the acoustic version of Hang With Me, so I’m eager to have a listen to the full version that will be appearing as the single from Body Talk Pt. 2.

In case you forgot, Body Talk Pt. 2 is out September 6th.
