Temposhark – Threads

Posted by Shan on May 6th, 2010 | No Comments

An album that I’ve been looking forward to for quite some time is Temposhark’s Threads which has been on it’s way for quite some time. Sometimes the transparency of artists this day in age can leave us salivating for material for far too long. Front man started blogging the very day that he started recording the album and so I feel like I’ve been waiting forever. To top it all off the singles have had a lukewarm reception even though they have been accompanied by some of the slickest videos to date by the band.

The album starts off with the biggest bang on the album but doesn’t set you up for disappointment. Irresistible is big in a way that makes you want to just jump up and start clapping your hands and stomping your feet. Accompanied with a thumping drum beat and some horns. The slick chants leave you wanting more just as the song ends. I’m praying this gets a release.

Next up from the album are the songs that have already been singles, starting off with The World Does Not Revolve Around You, which was the first release. Like the other singles that have came before the release of this album I found that listening to them without the videos actually left me liking them more than I originally had. Looking back I see why this was the first single and it really could have been big.

And third up is the infectious electro tinged Bye Bye Baby which I expected more of the album to sound like, but is a bit more along on this album than any of the other tracks. This track provides one of the stand out hooks, “I think I’m in love, baby not with you.”

Fatal Attraction: Glenn and Madonna

Posted by Justin on April 26th, 2010 | No Comments

I find it wonderful that Glenn Close goes home and puts on wine and listens to the Erotica album, according to an interview she did in the Daily Record. Wonderful in that “I’m not going to be ignored, Dan” kind of way. I will say that I still love the Erotica album -- it’s pretty unfiltered and raw. When you think about when it came out, I mean really after the height of Vogue and Justify My Love, to go so dark, sexually, is kind of ballsy (pun intended). And to call out the David Fincher directed Bad Girl specifically…Glenn, you naughty girl:

Q: How do you relax?
GC: I come home after recording Damages and I pour myself a large glass of red wine and play Madonna.

Q: Any Madonna album in particular?
GC: Oh, have you ever heard her Erotica album?

Q: Er….no? *scared Glenn may freak out*
GC: Oh my god, get on youtube and watch ‘Madonna, Bad Girl’ video man! *laughs*, that album is just genius and I guess it has so many memories for me and the first time I ever saw her live in MSG (Madison Square Gardens), I saw her live in 2008 and I got the chance to go backstage and I was so scared! (laughs) but she is lovely and she is fan of Damages, so not a bad compromise right…!

Most random video ever

Posted by Justin on April 26th, 2010 | No Comments

The song is disco and I don’t mind it. The video is bizarre and I do mind it.  I don’t know much about The Pipettes and honestly, this doesn’t leave me wanting to look up more about them. It’s like a cheaper, crappier version of this video. I’ll keep the song. And the Kompakt Remix of the song is ace, making that funky synth that much dirtier -- taking it from your 11pm slot on the dancefloor version to a 4am stumbling-to-a-restaurant-after-a-night-of-dancing version.

Cough:::you suck:::Cough

I truly don’t like Christina’s pretentiousness that she’s been carrying since after the Stripped album. The fact of the matter is she tries too hard to be this ‘artist’ and honestly, she’s a voice -- she can sing anything. Does she really need to try to be this serious? So obnoxious. Not yourself tonight? Good -- be someone else, like someone who smiles or has FUN making music. Blerg.

Hooray for Friday! Clap your hands!

In honor of it being Friday, and ending what has felt like the longest week, let’s all just a few moments to clap our hands and shake our rumps to this Fred Falke remix of Sia’s latest single Clap Your Hands.

Scissor Sisters Poised for Their Return with Night Work!

Posted by Shan on April 13th, 2010 | No Comments

Scissor Sisters finally broke the silence today and released plenty of good stuff for us via their official website including cover art, logos, tracklisting and a full track from their album Night Work.

The track that they blessed us with is the final track from the album titled Invisible Light. It rides the coat tales of the most recent pop trend, it’s very 80′s with a tribal feel and a voice over that is very reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It’s a nice taste of what’s to come for sure and is certainly dancefloor ready.

Night Work is out on June 28, 2010. The album will be preceded by the lead single Fire With Fire on June 20.

Listen to Invisible Light:
