Robbie Williams to Release ‘In & Out of Consciousness’, Yet Another Greatest Hits Compilation

Posted by Shan on July 14th, 2010 | No Comments

It’s official.

I love Robbie but his poor career is on a slow downward spiral. Luckily he has lots of hardcore fans and a lot of  fair weather fans so another Greatest Hits could be a good thing for him. Other greatest hits from the former Take That star are Greatest Hits (2004) and The Best So Far (2006) then there were Songbook (2009) which was a give away in The Mail and The Ego Has Landed which was a compilation that was his first US album so not necessarily counted.

So in case you don’t own one other those other four, you can pick up his newest In and Out of Consciousness in the UK on October 11th, or Germany on October 8th. The first single Shame features Gary Barlow, release date unknown.

It is however a double disc set, so you at least have that to look forward to. Look after the cut for the tracklisting.

Kelis is doing Cherrytree!

Posted by Justin on July 12th, 2010 | No Comments

I cannot wait for this full session to come out, hopefully in great audio quality! I think it would be interesting to do an ‘Unplugged’ version of her album, honestly.

And have you seen her interview on Jools Holland where she sings the Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams? You.must.watch.

Girls Can’t Catch – DUNZO!

Posted by Shan on July 12th, 2010 | No Comments

Girl groups are a thing of the 90′s and it’s hard to recreate the buzz that groups like the Spice Girls and All Saints did. Fascination Records took a gamble on a new three piece group over the last year or so called Girls Can’t Catch and today news has hit the web that after two lackluster singles they have been dropped from Fascination.

As individuals they did nothing for me, they lacked that individuality that drew you in like with earlier girl groups, but above that the music was really good. People get dropped all the time but this seems a bit disappointing as they were barely given a chance to prove themselves and they are already done. Both of the singles were in fact quite fantastic. Their first single was entitled Keep Your Head up and their second was a catchy power ballad called Echo each reaching #26 and #19 on the UK charts respectfully.

Hopefully another record label can pick them up.

In loving memory, here is a video remix for Echo

Kylie Scores her Fifth #1!

Posted by Shan on July 12th, 2010 | No Comments

Congrats to Kylie who scored her 5th number one with 11th studio album Aphrodite in the UK. The #1 album came 22 years to the week of Kylie’s first #1 album. Aphrodite also put Kylie in the record books for having an amazing four #1 albums over four consecutive decades. Amazing!

Other charts to make mention of are her native Australia where her album came rolling in at #2 which really isn’t so bad considering the somewhat poor charting of the lead single.

In the US Kylie is on track from a top 20 position which most fans will acknowledge is quite a feat for Kylie who hasn’t made much of an impression since Can’t Get You Out of My Head (which she most likely won’t ever be able to repeat). Kylie did do some promotion in the states to help get herself the position she did. She kicked things off with her small American tour which put her on peoples radar far before she had an album to promote. Once the album was getting nearer she hit the Today Show and later that evening performed at Splash in New York premiering her megamix which was widely made available across the internet and also distributed in CD form at various concerts across the country.

All hail the queen.

Video: Ellie Goulding – The Writer

Posted by Shan on July 11th, 2010 | 2 Comments

This weekend Ellie dropped her fourth video from her hit album Lights. The ballad The Writer was choosen which left me a bit disappointed, there were far better choices for a fourth single. Especially after Guns and Horses didn’t fair so well on the charts. An obvious fan favorite was Salt Skin which I know some remixes were/are being done for. Perhaps we will see it as a final single, although this is technically the fourth single from Lights if it doesn’t perform well I think this project will be considered complete.

The video for The Writer is a typical ballad-y video with no effects and simple shots of Ellie in a field and a lighthouse. Yawn.

I enjoyed her last video for The Flood, and this video is pretty awesome, but the song…meh.
