Ellie Goulding is Pop Perfection

I’m in love. A few months ago I started seeing the name “Ellie Goulding” popping up. I dismissed it and even when researching Erik Hassle I came across her cover of “Be Mine” with him and still payed no attention. It wasn’t until two weeks ago when I crossed paths with the music video for “Starry Eyed” that I realized I had been majorly missing out.

Billed as one of BBC’s people to look for in 2010, there’s a lot of hype to live up to. One might wonder if we are going to see a Little Boots reoccurance where the buzz gets the artist so hyped up that when the album comes out, even if it’s decent the public had there expectations set so high that they were just simply unmeetable. I can’t speak one way or the other just yet for Ellie, but of the four or five songs I have heard so far, I find myself quite smitten.

The music is amazing, the mixes are are amazing, the videos are beautiful and whimsical and even the artwork for the single and album I find to be just perfect. She’s not hard on the eyes either. Justin commented that she’s not too skinny, she’s just that right size, similar to how Kelly Clarkson was starting out.

Her first single “Under the Sheets” was released late last year, and has the most amazing video, it’s simple and filled with glitter and drums. It reminds me very much of Kylie Minogue’s video for “Come Into My World” with multiple Kylie’s making their way through the video. Unfortunately the video for this isn’t allowed to be embedded, but click here to view it in all it’s sparkly awesomeness.

Now Ellie is on the cusp of releasing her debut album “Lights” and she has released the second single and video for “Starry Eyed” which is right on par with the song. Both are spectauclar and only eclipsed by the remixes from Jakwob and Russ Chimes. The song is ambient and pop with a completely danceable chorus.

Look for her 10-track debut “Lights” out March 1st, and the single is officially out on February 22, 2010!
