Today we recieved an email directly from a new artist making their way into the music scene, The Dirty Disco. After review of their material they might just be the gayest band you’ll ever see or hear. You can take that in a positive light or a negative light, it’s to your choosing. Without seeing the band and simply hearing their music you get the feeling of a darker more electro Scissor Sisters. They have what I would call a unique angle, it’s well crafted and catchy but when going to pick up the music market share I think they are going to be quite a niche group.
Two songs were passed our way, “Rabbit Heart” and “Sista! (Joystick Disco Remix)”. “Sista!” was written and produced by Grammy nominee Dylan Dresdow who has worked closely with The Black Eyed Peas on many of the recent big hits. Of the two we previewed I preferred the mix, lots of choppy vocals and at parts it begins to almost feel like a gospel choir meets a group of cheerleaders, I found myself tapping my foot and humming along in minutes. Although the music is good, none of it is anything that the radio stations pick up, but then again when you look back at Lady Gaga, people probably said the same thing about her music. Anything is possible. If you like male pop vocals, goth, glam and glitter, then they might just be the band for you.
If you like what you hear here, please check out their Myspace.
Here is a link to download the Joystick Disco Remix of their single “Sista!” out February 22, 2010.
