Reports or rumors (whichever you prefer) have been floating around the internet for several weeks that Natalie Imbruglia’s latest album, “Come to Life” has been canceled. As far as we can tell, this is true.

The album came out in Europe in October of the last year and was slated for several other releases including the UK and America in February of this year. However all things around this album have been lackluster.

Well, everything except for the lead single of course. “Want” which was co-written my Chris Martin was hyped to be the song of the year, but after lackluster remixes, video and quite frankly poor promotion it plummeted from it’s already low position on the charts. Natalie was set to release the lukewarm “Lukas” as her first single in America but due to the lack of interest it seems this project has stalled in the water even amongst rumors that she has already returned to the studio to work on a fifth album.

I think most can agree that Natalie is off the public’s radar and without intense promotion from her, and without an amazing single, her career is waning. Personally I love the album and there’s only a track or two I skip, it could have been a real success but the days of tossing out a single, a half-assed website, and going on a wing and a prayer are over.

If anything about this project was done right, it was the moderately interesting promo video for “Wild About It” that came out a few months before the album. However, not even this generated the interest she needed.

  1. She also seemed like she couldn’t be bothered and once she starting pulling out of shows and promo appearances at festivals and such due to family or personal problems, I figured her attention toward the entire project was gone. Sadly, her attention to the project lasted longer than mine.

I enjoyed the Blunt Laser remix though. It didn’t alter too much from the recipe of the original, just some added beeps and well, lasers.
