Taking inspiration from the soul and R&B records of the 60s and 70s, Sheryl Crow is releasing her new album, 100 Miles From Memphis, in the dead of summer. What I’m sure will be a more groovy effort than her last album, which I liked overall, I cannot wait for her to kind of get back to the sound of some of her songs that she’s referenced in her ‘note’ on her website, such as Run, Baby, Run and My Favorite Mistake.

The latter is probably one of my favorite songs of all time, ever. While I’m not blown away by this song, I realized after listening to it that not every artist is slamming a beat in your face and some things take a while to just ease on into. And I think that’s what this song needs. Some sunsets with wine to ease into it.
