Full speed ahead, Rihanna is wasting no time getting everyone excited for her newest release from her forthcoming album Loud. The artwork for the new single is below. I’m digging the fact that she is keeping the “R” logo from the Rated R era as well. Loves it!

No doubt, it’s a thumper… and it’s Rihanna, so this obviously going to be a worldwide smash. Is it as different as say, Umbrella or Disturbia? That’s a big no, but it has potential and one hell of a bassline. Only Girl is sure to set the dancefloors on fire in it’s original form or remixed and I’m sure there will be plenty of those!

I have to say I’m a bit disappointed in the lead up to this single though. When the Rated R promo era began there were tons of bits and bobs about the releases that really got everyone amped up and this just seems like a “here it is, take it or leave it” move. I guess it’s so mainstream that they feel the song will speak for itself.

Haters to the left. Rihanna’s yet untitled new album is set to hit shelves November 2nd. The 5th album is set to depart from the darker and more moody Rated R which reflected what Rihanna was going through after ‘the incident’. The official statement was sent by the Barclay label (Universal Music) drafted to Musique Evous.

Current rumors have the first single titled Only Girl Cheers and will be a “dance track”.

Stay tuned.

Somebody please DO stop the music. Chew Fu is a hit or miss remixer and on this album, it’s mostly a miss. What could have been – a dark, moody album taken to the next level of creepy by some varied remixes spanning from tribal to electronic to ambient house to acid styles. Think Fischerspooner, think Junkie XL, think Manhattan Clique, think Hercules and Love Affair.

What is – a bland, static album that strips some tracks from their rawness and infuses it with a tragic beat and guitar line a la Jason Nevins. Chew Fu what were you thinking? Better yet, Rihanna or LA Reid – why bother? Girls, this sound is so 10 minutes ago. And if you’re going to do a remix album, why not just include tracks that haven’t already been remixed or chose tracks that are newly remixed an unavailable anywhere else. Don’t include crap tracks we’ve already heard and deleted from our Itunes library before.

The tracks worth a damn: Rude Boy is slowed down and totally transformed. Rockstar is alright, but nothing spectacular. I’m not even wasting our storage space on giving you a song to listen to. Use the internet cause if you want to hear these versions, you’ll need to put the work in to feel the true disappointment.

Miley Cyrus has just released the new video for her “Look, I’m more than a Disney act…more than a two-hit wonder, I can be dark, dramatic and be lambasted that I’m stealing from Gaga like everyone else” single. Actually, that would have been compelling. But a fucking bird? She’s more of a dodo than a giant raven. And because of her being so country (and by country I mean a redneck hillbilly with a face that only a mare could love), this video is like when Shania tried to be dark. Let’s all just absorb that for a moment. Got it?

Well, now watch this silliness. And I agree with MuuMuse, there’s some Britney copying going on as well. But I’m reminded of Stronger. And Rihanna’s Please Don’t Stop the Music. And this song could be Adam Lambert’s in a glam minute.

The only thing that’s extinct is Miley’s virginity…ya heard!? My last thought: this is proof that it matters not who the singer is or their ability, songs are so well-fucking-produced that Madeline Albright could be a pop star. And it also proves that Christina’s video could have at least been a little more interesting. I mean if Miley makes a video that I can sit through…Xtina you oughtsta be ashamed of yo skank ass self.

Clearly I love me some alliteration. And apparently I have found myself in a love affair with Rihanna. It’s one of those loves where you know better, but you can’t help it. Since Disturbia, girl done got dark and dramatic and I love it. I feel that she’s not sugar-coated, she’s not another dumb bitch, she’s not a Beyonce (nor does she want to be) and I enjoy what seems to be her creative energy and force (or team if that’s the case – Haus, as it were) behind her projects.

Having just launched her Last Girl on Earth tour, she’ll be hitting the US later this year. Check Ticketmaster for cities and dates. I’m half-tempted to go once I saw her descend on a giant machine gun in a teaser clip. However, if that’s not enough, she’s releasing a remixed version of her last album Rated R, with all remixes by Chew Fu. Check out the tracklisting after the jump.

I have to say I love Rihanna’s Rated R. From start to finish, it’s pretty damn great. It was totally out of left field in terms of what everyone was expecting her to do which I think has made the reception a bit sluggish, but anyone I know who has listened to it in entirety thinks it’s a good body of work. Maybe it’s a fluke of right people together at the right time. While I can see some of her personal shizz coming through the music, I also think too many people are assuming it’s a literal transcription of events. Really, do you think Rihanna is condoning suicide? I doubt it. Leave that to the pro’s – Insane Clown Posse.

She recently just performed some songs at AOL’s Studio Sessions, and this by far stood out as one of the best performances. Check out the video for Hard after the jump – it’s my favorite so far from the album.
